The OECD’s latest report on Ireland contains some useful insights for Ireland’s hard pressed marketers. One important one relates to the outlook for consumer spending. Growth in the volume of consumer spending is not expected to return until 2013. However, a return to price inflation will offset the volume reduction forecast for next year. So much so that the nominal value of consumer spending is actually expected to increase next year – though mostly due to price increases.
